Big Bad Wolf Books Kota Kinabalu 2026 officially opens at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), inviting families, students and book lovers to browse a wide selection of books, enjoy exclusive promotions and make reading part of family time.
Running from 30 October to 9 November 2026, from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm daily, the 11-day book sale adds a family-friendly book-hunting experience to the BIGSABAH Sale weekend, with opportunities to discover new reads and enjoy special offers.
The launch ceremony was officiated by Puan Yee Tsai Yiew, Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Sabah. In her address, she highlighted how the two events creates an opportunity to attract more visitors to Kota Kinabalu, encourage local spending and bring families together through activities that offer both enjoyment and value.
“Events such as the BIGSABAH Sale and Big Bad Wolf Books can complement one another by encouraging people to visit, shop and spend time in Kota Kinabalu. Beyond the economic opportunities, I hope more parents will bring their children to discover books and develop a love of reading from a young age.”
Also in attendance were YBhg. Datuk Dr. Hajah Rosmawati Haji Lasuki, JP, Chief Executive Officer of Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC); Puan Palmela Esther Mosinoh, Deputy Director of the Sabah State Library; and Nicholas Haes, Principal of Jesselton International School.
A Celebration of Reading and Sabah’s Cultural Heritage
Adding a creative and cultural dimension to the ceremony, students from Jesselton International School (JIS) presented traditional dance performance called Magunatip and a solo singing performance. The showcase brought Sabah’s culture, young voices and the school community into the wider celebration of reading and learning.
Opening alongside BIGSABAH Sale 2026 at SICC from 30 October to 1 November, the book sale offers families and visitors a reading-focused stop during a major city retail weekend. Big Bad Wolf Books continues for eight days after BIGSABAH Sale ends, giving readers more time to browse, return and discover new titles.
